Ekstrand Competition Finals

On November 17th, 2014, I will compete with my CU colleagues in the final round of the Ekstrand Competition.  Chosen from 40 contestants over 3 rounds, the Ekstrand award is designed to assist graduate students at the music school with professional development.  It has been a delight to hear students from all performance disciplines throughout the first 2 stages of the competition, and I am so excited for the finals concert next week!

More information about the contest and performers can be found here!

A busy fall!

At the end of a wonderful summer in Crested Butte, Rebecca relocated from Montreal to Boulder, Colorado to accept a performance fellowship at the University of Colorado.  Since beginning the program at the end of August, she has stayed busy with auditions, competitions, and lessons (plus a little time for hiking!).

In the winter and spring, she will appear with CU’s Eklund Opera program in the roles of Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, and Ottone in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea.  It should be an exciting year!

“Robinsongs” premier

This past week, Rebecca had the unique pleasure of performing a set of songs commissioned for her and her parents.  Scored for mezzo, oboe, and piano, composer Bill Robinson (no relation) chose 2 poems by Lewis Carroll and one by Ogden Nash and created the “Robinsongs.”  They were performed on his composer showcase last week at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.  The sunshine and warm weather were a treat, too!
